    In April of 2016, a sweet white tiger cat was surrendered to the shelter. Named, Silly Lilly, her owner was unable to provide for her needs. Waiting, Silly Lilly learned to adapt to her new surroundings hoping to find a new home. Ten months later, her dream came true. A great couple came into the shelter looking for a companion for their current cat. Silly Lilly was the perfect addition to their home.   • Dixie Shores

    On March 25 Dixie Shores was surrendered, at no fault of her own, by her former owner. This beauty's coat is the perfect mix of grey, buff, and tortoiseshell  making her stand out among the crowd. On July 26 Sharon P. couldn't look away from this stunning girl and new she needed to take Dixie Shores to her FURever home!   • Hixson

    Hixson is a tricolor rat terrier that was found roaming the streets of Harrisburg in early July. However, this seven year old boy didn’t have to wait long to find his new forever family! On July 23 Hixson left with his new best friend Raymond. Ever since that day this pair has been inseparable. Recently, Raymond’s sister Terry, sent the HSHA staff an update on this handsome pup!

  • Rosie

    Rosie, a five year old female pit bull mix, was brought into the shelter as a stray from Swatara Township. This sweetheart was determined to make a new, happy, and playful life. Due to her loveable personality and friendly demeanor she was a perfect candidate for the coveted lobby housing with the adoption center staff.   • Nacho

    Foxtrot, renamed Toast, was originially brought in as a stray and later adopted, but at no fault of his own returned back to the shelter.     In March, the sweet Novalee was dropped off at the shelter as a stray from Harrisburg City.     Sweet Dulce was just a year old when she arrived to HSHA. Her owner had been evicted from their apartment and left without taking this precious girl along. Instead, the landlord of the property surrendered Dulce which ended up being in the best interest of this buff colored beauty. We are currently in need of soft training treats (made in USA), Busy Bones, sensitive stomach cat food, peanut butter, unscented bleach, liquid laundry detergent, Dawn dishwashing detergent, Clorox wipes, waterless shampoo, kitten milk replacer, and paper towels. If you'd like to help out, please drop some off at the shelter!
