In March, the sweet Novalee was dropped off at the shelter as a stray from Harrisburg City. Dear, sweet, beautiful Novalee was so amazing which made it so much harder to believe that she was found as a stray. However, on May 27 Novalee’s life changed forever when she got adopted. Her owner recently wrote to give us an update on this special pup.

“Nova is doing very well. The first few days were pretty challenging, I must admit, but what a difference a week can make!  Nova is doing great. Potty training has been a success (both #1&#2!). She has "her spot" in the corner of the back yard. She's good in the house and in her crate. Nova’s personality is really coming out. She's actually a very silly dog! Her appetite is great; she eats her entire bowl when it is placed I front of her. Her curiosity has begun to trump her fear and she's spending much more time exploring the back yard.” Lisa B.

How Can I Help Homeless Animals in My Community Today?

Currently our greatest need is canned food for both dogs and cats! Our cats prefer pate but the pups aren't picky! In addition, we could use some Clorox Wipes to help maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all the sheter's residents.

Check out HSHA's Amazon Wish List for more specific needs.

We have several dogs and cats that are looking for a foster home.  If you think you may be able to help, please visit our Fosters Needed page.
