Horse Adoption
Thank you for considering adoption! By adopting a horse, you make a commitment to take care of the horse for the rest of its life.
If you would like to be considered for adoption, you MUST schedule an appointment to meet and ride the horse that you are interested in. Please email the Adoption Center team at frontdesk@humanesocietyhbg.org to schedule your appointment. We encourage adopters to take their time, as the interaction is an opportunity to observe the compatibility of both horse and rider. We have very limited staff and a small volunteer base, so please be certain you are committed to your appointment time, and are seriously interested in the horse you wish to meet.
Please note: We represent our horses as accurately as possible from our experience with them. But, as experienced handlers, we are often able to easily handle a behavior that an adopter may not. Moreover, the majority of the time we do not have extensive information on the medical or behavioral history of the horses at our farm as the majority come to us as victims of animal cruelty. We learn about the horses as we continue to interact with them throughout their time with us. No single horse is ever perfect, and it is the responsibility of the adopter to determine if the horse is appropriate for their ability and experience.
