Brandywine Valley SPCA, in partnership with national nonprofit Petco Love, team up with partner shelters for a collaborative initiative to find pets homes for the holidays.

HARRISBURG, PA (DECEMBER 12, 2025) – Hundreds of pets across the region will be looking for homes for the holidays as part of Brandywine Valley SPCA’s (BVSPCA) December Mega Adoption® Event in partnership with national non-profit organization Petco Love. The winter event will be held at all BVSPCA locations, including the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, on December 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens at all participating shelters will be available for adoption for just a $35 fee throughout the event.

“Our Megas provide a lifeline for so many pets who have lost everything. It’s truly inspiring to see these pets chosen by families eager to give them a new life full of love,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO. “By bringing this Mega Adoption Event into our campuses and into the shelters of our partners, we are looking to save more lives, reach more local adopters, and open space to more pets in need in our region and beyond.”

“December and the holidays are a time filled with love, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by opening your heart and home to a shelter pet in need,” said Petco Love President, Susanne Kogut. “We’re proud to partner with Brandywine Valley SPCA and local organizations that work tirelessly to find loving homes for pets in their care. These Mega Adoption Events show what’s possible when a community comes together with one shared purpose: saving pet lives.”

The Mega Adoption® event will be held at all BVSPCA locations in West Chester, Plymouth Meeting, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, New Castle, Dover, and Georgetown, Delaware, the BVSPCA’s newest locations in Washington, D.C., as well as BVSPCA partners Animal Adoption Center (AAC) in New Jersey and Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA) in Harrisburg. Other organizations also participating in the Mega Adoption® Event include Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Humane Animal Partners, Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, and Faithful Friends Animal Society. All participating locations will offer a $35 adoption fee for any puppy, kitten, dog, or cat. The adoption fee includes everything typically included in adoption fees at participating locations. The BVSPCA adoption fees include microchip, spay/neuter, and current vaccines.

A limited number of early access Fast Passes will be available for BVSPCA locations in West Chester, New Castle, Georgetown, and the Animal Rescue Center, as well as HSHA. Fast Passes give potential adopters access at 10 a.m., an hour ahead of general admission.

Adopters should bring a leash and collar for a dog adoption (also available for purchase), a carrier for a cat (cardboard carriers will be available for purchase), a valid ID, and the adoption fee. BVSPCA campuses will facilitate outdoor meet-and-greets for folks who bring dogs in their home to meet potential new canine family members.

BVSPCA-led Mega Adoption® Events powered by Petco Love since 2016 have found homes for more than 21,000 pets.

About the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area

The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a better community for pets and people through compassion, protection, education, and collaboration. HSHA accepts homeless animals regardless of their breed, age medical condition, or behavioral condition. However, HSHA does not euthanize adoptable animals due to lack of space or length of stay. The shelter assists thousands of animals each year through its residential care and adoption program, low-cost veterinary clinics, Veterinary Resource Center, pet food programs, and counseling services. In 2024, HSHA was proudly named a No-Kill Shelter by Best Friends Animal Society.  HSHA is part of the Brandywine Valley SPCA network of shelters.
