52 dogs are in need of help in Rockdale, Texas. Team BVSPCA is on site answering the call. As a BVSPCA shelter, HSHA is assisting with these efforts.
The call came following a months-long investigation into conditions at Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary Rescue and Rehab. Our team worked in coordination with the Milam County Sheriff’s Office to negotiate the voluntary surrender of 52 dogs from Dogtown Ranch. Now, these precious souls are safe, and we’re bringing them the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve.
But we can’t do this alone. We’re asking you to help us meet their needs. Every act of kindness brings these dogs one step closer to healing, fostering hope, and ultimately finding their path home.
A team of more than a dozen BVSPCA staff members is on the ground in Texas, led by CEO Adam Lamb and joined by Aimee Sadler, founder of Dogs Playing for Life, now affiliated with BVSPCA. Together, we’re working around the clock to assess every dog, provide medical care and begin preparing them for the journey ahead.
The team worked tirelessly over two days to give each of the 52 dogs medical check-ups before transporting them to a temporary shelter. But getting these dogs to safety is only the beginning. Right now, one dog is fighting for her life and receiving critical emergency care.
