HSHA Holds Annual Glove Drive

What: Each February, HSHA conducts its Annual Glove Drive.  HSHA asks the community to donate gloves, make a monetary donation, or simply spread the word of the shelter’s need for surgical gloves.

Who:  The mission of HSHA is to build a better community for pets and people through compassion, protection, education, and collaboration.  The organization accepts homeless animals regardless of their breed, age, medical condition, or behavioral condition and takes in thousands of homeless animals each year.

Why:  Wearing and properly changing gloves dramatically reduces the spread of life-threatening diseases in a shelter environment.  We use roughly 300,000 latex, vinyl, or nitrile gloves to clean, medicate, and care for the thousands of homeless animals that come to our shelter from Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties every year.

When:   The entire month of February.

Where:  There are three ways you can show your love for homeless pets right here in our area by supporting the 2022 HSHA Glove Drive.

  1. Drop off gloves directly at HSHA.  7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
  2. Order gloves through Amazon to be sent directly to HSHA.
  3. Give a monetary donation to the Glove Drive via check or online

Please note that HSHA is especially in need of medium and large sizes.

The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a better community for pets and people through compassion, protection, education and collaboration.  HSHA accepts homeless animals regardless of their breed, age, medical condition, or behavioral condition.  However, HSHA does not euthanize adoptable animals due to lack of space or length of stay.  The shelter assists over 10,000 animals a year through its residential care and adoption program, low-cost veterinary clinics and Veterinary Resource Center, pet food programs, and counseling services.  Learn more at humanesocietyhbg.org.
