(HARRISBURG, PA. July 17, 2023) The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA) has started off the second half of 2023 by filling three key roles in the organization.  HSHA hired Brittany Leggore, CPA as Chief Financial Officer and hired Dr. Kelsi Nagy as Shelter Veterinarian.  In addition, Marley Warren of SEK CPAs & Advisors has been named Treasurer of the Board of Directors.

Leggore brings six years of experience in accounting and auditing for government and non-profit agencies.  Her most recent position was with Maher Duessel CPAs in Harrisburg where she was Audit Supervisor.  Leggore holds a B.S. in Accounting from Penn State Harrisburg and is a Certified Public Accountant.  As CFO, Leggore is responsible for oversight of all financial transactions and fiscal responsibilities.

She received her CPA license in Arkansas while teaching accounting courses at the university and working at a local CPA firm. For over 5 years, Marley taught courses on financial reporting, auditing, and managerial accounting while conducting research on audit quality and internal control audits. In 2021, Marley and her family moved to the Harrisburg area, and she began teaching at Penn State – Harrisburg. In 2022, she joined the auditing team at SEK in Camp Hill, where she primarily deals with non-profit and government clients who need auditing and tax services.

“Brittany as our CFO and Marley as our Board Treasurer are working closely together,” said George Groves, HSHA Board President.  “Their background in nonprofit accounting is vital as we are always looking for ways to strengthen our financial oversight.”

Dr. Nagy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine.  She performed externships at PAWS Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic in Philadelphia, Humane Pennsylvania in Reading and Lancaster, PSCPA in Philadelphia, and Providence Animal Center.  As Shelter Veterinarian, Dr. Nagy is responsible for the medical care of the up to 300 animals in HSHA’s care each day.

“Dr. Nagy’s is passionate about shelter medicine, and we are excited to have her join our team,” said Becky Morgan, Director of Veterinary Services. “She will spearhead our work in providing the best medical care to our residents.”
