Free vaccinations for dogs and cats available at the Hamilton Health Center parking lot on Saturday, September 21 thanks to Petco Love. The event is in partnership with the Harrisburg Bureau of Police Community Services Division.

Harrisburg, PA (September 10, 2024) – The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA) will be holding a free vaccine clinic on Saturday, September 21, providing rabies, distemper, and FVRCP shots for owned dogs and cats. Microchips will also be available for $10. The clinic will take place in the Hamilton Health Center parking lot, located at 110 South 17th Street, Harrisburg, from 9 – 11am.

Attendees can choose to utilize a drive through option or walk-up. Cats should be in carriers and dogs should be leashed, regardless of using the drive through or walk-up option. No advance registration is required (while supplies last).

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats — the most prevalent deadly diseases affecting pets — are preventable with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pet to a veterinarian annually for preventative care. To ensure the health and wellness of our beloved pets and to address this critical need, HSHA and Petco Love have partnered to make pet vaccines free and accessible. The free vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative Vaccinated and Loved, which is providing one million more free pet vaccines to existing animal welfare partners, including HSHA, for family pets in need

“Our collaboration with Petco Love provides free pet vaccines for family pets in need, ensuring no pet goes without proper care,” said Adam Lamb, HSHA Executive Director. “We are grateful for the local support of the Harrisburg Bureau of Police Community Services Division. Together, we can keep pets in homes and out of the shelter.”

HSHA safety net programs like vaccine clinics, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, and pet food bank help families care for their pets during times of financial difficulty.
