Leema was found in a crate in a back yard suffering from wounds sustained from a dog fight. Found in a crate, she had received no medical attention for her wounds, her front leg was very swollen with cellulitis, and she appeared to have chronic untreated ear and eye infections. Leema was in bad shape.
When Leema came to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, our dedicated medical team immediately went to work to treat her wounds and chronic infections. No longer in pain, Leema’s true personality began to shine through and it wasn’t long before she found her happily ever after with a new family.
Medicine healed Leema’s physical wounds, and love healed her heart. Without your support for our mission, we wouldn’t be able to care for dogs like Leema.
Bevis’s Journey to Love
For a long time, Bevis went unnoticed by adopters. Few people asked about him, and as the days turned into months, the shelter became his home. Unfortunately, the longer he stayed, the more stressed he became. Time passed, and Bevis had spent more than half his life waiting for a family to call his own.
Then, everything changed. Bevis entered a foster home where he could play with other dogs and relax. After seven months at HSHA, his moment finally came. His adopters knew he was theirs before they even met him. When they discovered his birthday was close to the date of their meet-and-greet, they brought him a special Happy Birthday bone.
It was love at first sight—for Bevis and his new family. Sometimes, finding the perfect home takes time, but when it happens, it’s pure magic.
At HSHA, magic happens every day. This magic wouldn’t be possible without your support that gives us the resources to give pets like Bevis the extra time they need to find the right home.
When Orange Crush arrived at the shelter, she was in bad shape. She was very sick, in danger of losing her left eye, and was struggling to eat. However, Orange Crush was a fighter.
It takes many dedicated people to save a kitten like Orange Crush. First, our medical team provided the medicine she so desperately needed. She was then fostered by a committed foster mom who provided her round-the-clock care. And, when Orange Crush was strong, happy, and healthy, our adoption team found her a fur-ever home.
None of this can happen without the support of our community and people like you.
