Dog Field Trips

Take a Shelter Dog on a Field Trip

Our dogs would love to spend time out of their kennels with you! Volunteer to take an adoptable dog out for a fun outing such as a hike, a coffee date, or a meal at a pet friendly location.  Field trips can last from an hour to all day. Whatever works for you, works for us!

About Field Trips

We will match you with a dog appropriate for your leash-handling comfortability.

  • Dogs must remain on a leash at all times
  • No nose-to-nose meets with other dogs
  • No dog parks

Not sure where to take your field trip companion? Here are some ideas:

For the adventurous dog:

  • Wildwood Park, Harrisburg. Variety of trails and distances.
  • Schiavoni Park, Hummelstown. Low impact, short paved trail with shallow ater access.
  • Detweiler Park, Harrisburg. 7 miles of nature trails.
  • Bullfrog Valley Park, Hershey. Paved trail (can be heavily populated on weekends).

For the low-key dog:

  • Go for ice cream and hang out
  • Netflix and Chill. Hang out at your house for some decompression/nap time.
  • Go for a drive
  • Rest outside on a blanket in the sunshine
