Humane Education & Outreach

At HSHA, we recognize that humane education is a key facet to improve the current conditions and pave the future for the pets and people within our communities. Humane education promotes knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and values related to human involvement in the lives of animals, and it can bring about beneficial changes in the treatment of animals at the hands of humans.

Presentations

HSHA is fortunate to have some of the most educated minds in animal welfare working and volunteering with the organization. Our experts would love to share their expertise with you.

Community Outreach

HSHA attends dozens of outreach events each year in our community to raise awareness about our services and animal welfare.

Book Buddies

This program is designed to assist children in developing and improving their reading skills while also helping the shelter animals by providing socialization and human interaction.

Animal Exchange

The Animal Exchange Program is a wonderful resource for teachers to make learning fun in all subjects and improve the learning environment for their students.

Please note we close to the public at 3pm on New Year's Eve.  The shelter is closed New Year's Day, but be sure to join us at the Penguin Plunge on City Island. Learn more at www.thepenguinplunge.com!
