WORKPLACE GIVING

Do you work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or the federal government? Perhaps you are employed by another organization that participates in workplace giving? If so, consider donating to HSHA through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the State Employees Combined Appeal (SECA), or the United Way. HSHA’s codes for Workplace Giving are:

  • 4401-0027 (SECA)
  • 77697 (CFC)
  • 3022 (United Way).

Also, many employers will match contributions made to charitable organizations. Check with your human resources office about matching programs.

PLANNED GIVING

Pet lovers understand stewardship better than most. They know that no matter what else is happening in their lives, our pets will always be by our side with comfort and support. One way pet lovers can make sure they reciprocate that unwavering and uncondiation love is through planned giving for the homeless animals in our communities. One of the easiest ways to support the Humane Society through planned giving is by remembering HSHA in your will. You can designate a specific dollar amount, leave a share of your estate, will a bank account, or leave stock. Simply contact your attorney to include HSHA in your will. Other examples of planned giving include donations through life insurance policies, trusts, annuities and estates.

GUARDIAN ANGEL PROGRAM

The Humane Society's Guardian Angel program is the opportunity to improve the adoptability for a shelter resident of your choice. Fifty percent of your donation will be applied toward the adoption fee of the animal you select, reducing the price for a prospective adopter. The remaining fifty percent will be applied directly toward the care of this animal while in our shelter. Download the Guardian Angel Form and give hope to a deserving shelter resident today! The form can be mailed, dropped off, faxed or emailed to our adoption center staff.

KENNEL SPONSORSHIP

Sponsoring a kennel at HSHA is a great way to show your support! Sponsorships are a twelve month commitment that can be finaced through monthly or a single payment. At the end of the year, Kennel sponsorships are renewable as well. Each kennel sponsor receives an acknowledgement plaque on a kennel door or window. Sponsoring a kennel shows your dedication and commitment to the homeless animals. Download the Kennel Sponsorship Form to provide for the basic needs of our shelter residents today! The form can be mailed, dropped off, faxed or emailed to our accounting staff.

MEMORIAL DONATIONS

There are many reasons to make donations to a worthy cause. Many people donate in memory of a loved one who lived with a true passion for animals. By making a donation to the Humane Society in honor or memory of a friend or loved one, you know your donation will go to support the homeless animals of Central Pennsylvania. Download the Memorial/Honorary Donation Form to give a living memory to your loved one. The form can be mailed, dropped off, faxed or emailed to our accounting staff.

COMMUNITY AID

Community Aid, one of shelter's leading community partners, is a charitable organization that operates local thrift stores with the mission of creating jobs and supporting the community. This faith-based organization donates proceeds from the store back to the community. By donating clothing in any of Community Aid's bins around central PA (including the one located in the rear parking lot of the shelter), you are supporting both HSHA and the many other worthy charities in Central PA. Do you own a business or have a location where a bin could be placed? Contact Community Aid. Donate today to show your support for your community!

Cupcake

Note:  Cupcake is HSHA’s longest resident.  Her adoption fee will be reduced by 50% at our Pittie Party on Saturday, October 19th (11am-3pm at HSHA).  She is currently located at Zoomania at Colonial Park Mall.

Sweet cinnamon and brown sugar cupcake with butterscotch frosting and chocolate sprinkles?   That's me, a tasty treat of a dog! As you can see, I'm a gorgeous golden brindle girl with unique eyes. In some light they are a pale robin's egg blue, and in other light they are a cool yellow. I'm probably around two years old and I never stop moving! Think of me as a high-energy puppy who is ready for training and exercise. I love to get out and do things, but I'll need some work on my leash manners. I love to play with other dogs, and the right canine pal will help me burn some energy. I do not like cats and cannot live with them. I would do best with kids over 12 and plenty of plushy soft toys to play with.

Mystery Man

My Petfinder Profile: https://www.petfinder.com/cat/mystery-man-45412742/pa/harrisburg/humane-society-of-harrisburg-area-pa120/

Note: I am FIV positive, but totally healthy. You can ask the staff about FIV.

There's a cat who lives a life of danger, Everyone he meets, he stays a stranger, With every move he makes, Another chance he takes, Odds are he wont't live to see tomorrow...Secret Agent Cat, Secret Agent Cat, They've given you a number (A419), and taken away your name. That was me, Mystery Man, before someone brought me here to save me from my dangerous life of espionage in their neighborhood. I was starving and smelled food outside at their house, so I followed the clues and found a yummy dinner! The family that lived there fed me every day, since I was very thin and always hungry. It was like being at the Catsino Royale! They did not know my identity, so everyone called me Mystery. One night while on a special mission, I caught my foot on something sharp and sustained a terrible wound on my back paw. Unable to run from my nemesis, Dr. Claw, my cover was blown and I had to give up my life as a super sleuth. There were also several other spy cats in the area who didn't like me treading their turf. So now I am here, hoping to find a new family because I LOVE people and feel very lonely. I'm Tom Cruise handsome, very affectionate, and bond strongly with the humans I meet. I can be boisterous and meow loudly to get attention and head scratches. I like to play with wand toys, but I enjoy sniffing around the playroom, looking for clues as to how I can escape! I adapt well to new situations and roll with the punches, but I have trouble living in a cage, since I was used to wandering on my own for a while. I get along with other cats and am super friendly and outgoing. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to come to HSHA right away and meet me. I would really like a loving family and a home where I can explore and continue my quest to save the world from mischief and mayhem! I hope finding a home won't be "Mission Impossible" for me! Please come in to meet the coolest spy cat ever! I'll be a fun, loyal, loving companion...there's no mystery about that!
