WORKPLACE GIVING

Do you work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or the federal government? Perhaps you are employed by another organization that participates in workplace giving? If so, consider donating to HSHA through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the State Employees Combined Appeal (SECA), or the United Way. HSHA’s codes for Workplace Giving are:

  • 4401-0027 (SECA)
  • 77697 (CFC)
  • 3022 (United Way).

Also, many employers will match contributions made to charitable organizations. Check with your human resources office about matching programs.

PLANNED GIVING

Pet lovers understand stewardship better than most. They know that no matter what else is happening in their lives, our pets will always be by our side with comfort and support. One way pet lovers can make sure they reciprocate that unwavering and uncondiation love is through planned giving for the homeless animals in our communities. One of the easiest ways to support the Humane Society through planned giving is by remembering HSHA in your will. You can designate a specific dollar amount, leave a share of your estate, will a bank account, or leave stock. Simply contact your attorney to include HSHA in your will. Other examples of planned giving include donations through life insurance policies, trusts, annuities and estates.

GUARDIAN ANGEL PROGRAM

The Humane Society's Guardian Angel program is the opportunity to improve the adoptability for a shelter resident of your choice. Fifty percent of your donation will be applied toward the adoption fee of the animal you select, reducing the price for a prospective adopter. The remaining fifty percent will be applied directly toward the care of this animal while in our shelter. Download the Guardian Angel Form and give hope to a deserving shelter resident today! The form can be mailed, dropped off, faxed or emailed to our adoption center staff.

KENNEL SPONSORSHIP

Sponsoring a kennel at HSHA is a great way to show your support! Sponsorships are a twelve month commitment that can be finaced through monthly or a single payment. At the end of the year, Kennel sponsorships are renewable as well. Each kennel sponsor receives an acknowledgement plaque on a kennel door or window. Sponsoring a kennel shows your dedication and commitment to the homeless animals. Download the Kennel Sponsorship Form to provide for the basic needs of our shelter residents today! The form can be mailed, dropped off, faxed or emailed to our accounting staff.

MEMORIAL DONATIONS

There are many reasons to make donations to a worthy cause. Many people donate in memory of a loved one who lived with a true passion for animals. By making a donation to the Humane Society in honor or memory of a friend or loved one, you know your donation will go to support the homeless animals of Central Pennsylvania. Download the Memorial/Honorary Donation Form to give a living memory to your loved one. The form can be mailed, dropped off, faxed or emailed to our accounting staff.

COMMUNITY AID

Community Aid, one of shelter's leading community partners, is a charitable organization that operates local thrift stores with the mission of creating jobs and supporting the community. This faith-based organization donates proceeds from the store back to the community. By donating clothing in any of Community Aid's bins around central PA (including the one located in the rear parking lot of the shelter), you are supporting both HSHA and the many other worthy charities in Central PA. Do you own a business or have a location where a bin could be placed? Contact Community Aid. Donate today to show your support for your community!

Benaiah (Rooney)

Handsome, handsome, handsome. That's all anyone says about me. I'm Benaiah, named after a character in the bible who bravely killed a lion. But everyone here just calls me Benny! I was born in 2017 and was first at the shelter in the spring of 2018. My ears had just been (badly) cropped and they needed care, then my rear leg was severely injured and my owners neglected to get treatment soon enough. My friends at the shelter took me back in July 2018, but it was too late for my leg -- it had to be amputated. So I became a tripod dog! Of course it did not slow me down one bit. I was adopted in March of 2019 after HSHA won ownership of me in the cruelty case against my neglectful owner. I got a new name, Rooney...but I was returned in August 2019. My first two years of life have been difficult, and I'm really in need of a stable, permanent home. I'm very much a dog who lives in the present, and no tough past is going to hang on my shoulders. I'm looking for a special family who can give me the life I deserve after spending so many months recuperating in the shelter, only to be adopted and returned. I love to play fetch and I've even learned the command "drop it," which I'm very proud of, I know "sit" too, and I love to get rewarded with treats and affection. I've very strong, so no kids under 12 in my new home, please.

Chantey

Hold me! I'm Chantey, a small black cat who was a stray. I love to be held, and if you could walk me over to a window and let me watch the birds, that would be perfect. I'm slightly fearful and still trying to figure everything out. My life on the streets may have been tough, and I'm not sure who to trust yet. However, I'm trying hard. I know black cats gets overlooked, so I'm hoping my huge golden eyes will make people stop and say "Wow, I need to adopt that black cat!"
