The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA) is preparing for the upcoming “kitten season” by holding a Kitten Shower Donation Drive and hosting a Virtual Kitten Shower Foster Parent Event in April.  Spring and early summer is the busiest time at HSHA, due to the amount of kittens being born.  This drives the need for two things: kitten items and foster parents!

The most needed items during kitten season are canned kitten food, dry kitten food, KMR Formula, cat toys, Miracle Nipples, and pet heating pads.   Anyone that is able to donate can drop donations off at any of these five participating locations all April long:

Pet Authority. 3997 Sunnycrest Drive, Harrisburg
Zoomania. 4600 Jonestown Road #195, Harrisburg
McCrackens Pet & Food. 700 North Market Street, Elizabethtown
Karns. 731 Cherry Drive, Hershey
Karns. 4870 Carlisle Pike, Hummelstown

Donations can also be dropped off at HSHA, located at 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111 or shipped directly to the same address.

On April 24th at 5:30pm, HSHA will be hosting a Virtual Kitten Shower Foster Parent learning session.  This event is great for people who have thought about becoming a foster parent but weren’t sure if it was right for them.  The event will discuss how to get involved, how the process works and the types of fostering available to help you determine if fostering is a fit for them. Seasoned foster parents will be available to ask questions of and tell attendees what they wish they would have known when they first started.
